Garden

The museum’s building currently occupies three lots. A fourth lot was damaged when a neighboring building collapsed. In 2016 community members developed the rubble in the Nishna Heritage Garden. Visitors to the garden can enjoy picnic seating, native grasses, trees, flowers and several public art fixtures, including the spectacular mural by Malvern artist Zack Jones. Covering the entire outer wall of the museum’s building, the mural titled “Time” features scenes from the local area. The mural was made possible by generous donations from local townspeople and grants from Pottawattamie County Community Foundation, Farm Bureau, Pioneer Seed and Iowa Arts Council.
